What Duolingo English Test actually asks you to do.
Knowing the task types is most of the preparation. These are the ones that decide scores, and the ones our classes drill hardest.
The test adapts as you go. Answer well and questions get harder, which is how the algorithm finds your level quickly.
You will read aloud, describe a photo in speech, write to a prompt and complete words with missing letters.
There is a short unscored video interview and writing sample that universities can watch.
Proctoring is automated and strict: looking away, a second voice, or leaving the frame can void the whole result.
