Australia pairs highly ranked universities with some of the longest post-study work rights of any destination we place into, through the Temporary Graduate visa. It is a higher-cost route, and the visa process weighs your genuine-student case carefully.
What it costs
The money, stated plainly.
Tuition is only part of it. Below is what you pay once, what you pay every month, and what the visa authorities need to see in the bank before they will issue anything.
Tuition & living
AUD 30,000 – 38,000 a year for business and humanities; AUD 40,000 – 55,000 for engineering and IT. Regional universities such as New England and Charles Sturt run about 38 per cent below that
AUD 44,000 a year is the national median for coursework. MBA programmes span AUD 30,000 to 95,000. Fees are charged per credit point, so only the CoE figure is real

What the visa requires
AUD 29,710 for 12 months of living costs, plus your tuition and travel money. Immigration scrutinises the source of funds, not just the balance.
Roughly PKR 5.8 million for the living-cost portion alone, before tuition and travel.
Weak or badly-timed financial evidence is the most common avoidable cause of refusal. We build this part of your file first, not last.

Amounts are quoted as ranges because they vary by university, programme and city. Government requirements and university fees change; your counsellor confirms the exact numbers for your shortlist before you commit to anything.

Timing
When to apply for Australia, and why it matters.
Intakes: February and July, with some November starts at private providers.
How the year runs
February is the larger intake. July suits students finishing Intermediate results in the summer. Apply four to six months out: the Genuine Student statement takes real drafting and rushing it is how good profiles get refused.
Three things specific to Australia
- Regional campuses cut tuition and living costs and add post-study work time. If your goal is experience rather than a city name, this is the best value in our whole network.
- Work rights are 48 hours a fortnight in term. Budget as if that income does not exist, because your first month has no earnings in it.
- Health cover for the full visa length is compulsory and must be arranged before you apply.
Documents & attestation
What you need, and how Pakistan verifies it.
The paperwork below is what a Australia application runs on. Your counsellor confirms the exact list for your university and checks every document against the others before anything is submitted.
Documents you will need
Academic
- Matric (SSC) and Intermediate (HSSC) certificates and mark sheets
- Bachelor's degree and full transcripts, if applying for a master's
- IBCC equivalence certificate if you studied O-levels or A-levels
- IELTS, PTE or other accepted English test result
Identity
- Passport valid well beyond your intended course end date
- CNIC or B-Form, and your family registration certificate where asked
- Passport-standard photographs to the destination's specification
Financial
- Bank statements covering the period your destination requires
- Bank certificate or maintenance letter from the account holder's bank
- Sponsor's affidavit of support, with proof of their income
- Evidence of the sponsor's income: salary slips, tax returns, business papers
Supporting
- Statement of purpose written for this course, not a template
- Academic or employer reference letters
- Experience letters and CV where the course expects them
- Medical and police documents where Australia requires them
The attestation chain
Order matters. Skip a step and the next authority sends you back, which is the most common cause of avoidable delay.
Your board verifies Matric and Intermediate certificates; your university verifies your degree and transcripts. Nothing moves until this is done.
The Inter Board Committee of Chairmen attests Matric and Intermediate. If you did O-levels or A-levels, IBCC also issues the equivalence certificate, and that must be finished before attestation.
The Higher Education Commission attests degrees and transcripts. It covers higher education only, not school certificates.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs attests only after HEC or IBCC has stamped the document. Appointments are booked online.
Some destinations accept a MOFA apostille; others still want their own embassy in Pakistan to legalise the document. We confirm which applies to Australia for your specific documents before you start.
Three things that changed recently
Attestation guidance published even a year ago is now partly wrong. These are the current points that catch people out.
- HEC attestation is now fully digital. The Higher Education Commission moved degree attestation onto an online Degree Attestation System in May 2026, replacing the old in-person and courier route. Older step-by-step guides describing counter visits no longer apply.
- MOFA no longer takes walk-ins. Appointments are booked online, so attestation has to be scheduled into your application timeline rather than done the week before submission.
- O-level and A-level equivalence takes weeks, not days. IBCC equivalence must be complete before attestation can start, and Cambridge result slips are not accepted in place of the certificate. This is the single most underestimated delay in the whole process.
Government processes change. Your counsellor confirms the current requirement and fee for your documents at the time you apply, rather than working from a printed list.

Three numbers a family needs before committing, and one question almost nobody asks until it is urgent: can you pay to be decided faster? The answer is yes in exactly one of these eight destinations.
Which visa, and what it costs
Subclass 500, applied for by you through ImmiAccount. AUD 2,500 from 1 July 2026, up from AUD 2,000 in July 2025 and AUD 1,600 before that, so any guide quoting under 2,500 is two increases stale. Add biometrics at VFS, about AUD 45, and the health examination, AUD 300 to 500. Afterwards the Temporary Graduate visa, subclass 485, is a separate AUD 5,750.
The insurance, and where to get it
Overseas Student Health Cover is visa condition 8501, so you cannot be granted the visa without it and letting it lapse puts the visa at risk. Only five insurers are approved: ahm, nib, Bupa, Medibank and Allianz Care. Single cover runs roughly AUD 623 to 806 a year, about AUD 52 to 67 a month, and prices differ by up to a quarter for near-identical cover. ahm is usually cheapest; Bupa is the only one offering dental and optical extras and covers specialists at 100 per cent rather than 85. You are not obliged to use whichever provider your agent or university sells you, you can switch at any time and keep your waiting periods, and paying for the whole visa upfront is normally 5 to 10 per cent cheaper.
Can you pay to go faster?
No. Home Affairs does not sell priority processing for student visas. Median processing was about 42 days in March 2026. What does affect your speed is Ministerial Direction 115, which tiers institutions by risk, so the university you choose moves your file faster or slower than the fee ever could.
What we tell you about it
Because speed cannot be bought, the institution's risk tier is worth asking about before you accept an offer, particularly for a February intake where the national cap fills Sydney and Melbourne allocations early.
Proof of funds
What Australia actually wants to see, from a Pakistani family.
Every destination asks for money. What differs, and what nobody writes down properly, is who is allowed to hold it, how long it has to have been there, and which Pakistani documents prove where it came from. This is the part we build first on every file, because it is the part that refuses people.
Who is allowed to fund you
A parent, a legal guardian, a spouse or de facto partner, or in some cases another relative. The sponsor does NOT need to be in Australia. Overseas sponsors are normal and accepted.
The documents, exactly
This is the most document-heavy destination on the list, and it is deliberate. You need bank statements with three to six months of consistent history; a statutory declaration from the sponsor confirming they will fund you; proof of your relationship to them, meaning birth certificate or Form B; and evidence of the sponsor's OWN income, which is where most files are thin. For a salaried sponsor that means salary slips, an employment letter and tax returns. For a self-employed sponsor it means business registration, company financial statements and tax records. On top of that: your CoE, OSHC paid, the health examination done, and the Genuine Student statement.
FBR returns and the NTN
This is where FBR returns matter MOST of any destination here. Home Affairs cross-checks a claimed income against tax filings, and a sponsor who claims to earn far more than their return shows creates exactly the doubt the Genuine Student test exists to find. In Pakistan your CNIC IS your NTN for individual filing, so you do not need a separate number. The FBR tax year runs 1 July to 30 June and the return is filed on the IRIS portal with a wealth statement attached. Returns for the last two to three years are what a visa officer uses to test whether a claimed income is real. Bring two to three years, and make sure the figures on the return, the salary certificate and the bank statements tell the same story.
What will not be accepted
Money with no traceable origin. A loan is fine if it is in the student's or the sponsor's name and you have the sanction letter and disbursement schedule; government education loan schemes are well recognised. A loan committed to something else is not.
The one thing that refuses people
The Genuine Student statement, not the money. Australia refuses well-funded applicants whose course choice does not follow from what they already studied and who cannot explain it in their own words. Write it yourself. A statement that reads like a template is worse than a short honest one.

Timing
1How many intakes, and when
Two main, plus one small. February is the main intake, July the second, and a November Trimester 3 exists at RMIT, Deakin, Griffith, Bond, UNSW, ANU and Monash for business, IT and vocational courses. THERE IS NO SEPTEMBER INTAKE. What agents sell as one is the November trimester.
2When applications open and close
Roughly 12 months ahead. July 2026 is largely closed; November 2026 and February 2027 are live. Apply 8 to 10 months out, because the national cap of 295,000 commencements for 2026 means Sydney and Melbourne fill their allocation early. Applying late costs the seat, not just the scholarship.
3How long the whole process takes
Offer in 2 to 4 weeks. CoE after the deposit. Median visa processing was about 42 days in March 2026, and Ministerial Direction 115 tiers institutions, so the university you choose affects the speed. Allow 5 to 6 months.

4Application fees
Most universities charge AUD 50 to AUD 150 per application, and it is usually non-refundable. Budget for it across a shortlist.
5Documents needed to apply for admission
Academic certificates and transcripts, English test, passport, CV, and a Genuine Student statement that carries real weight. Work experience letters if relevant. HEC or IBCC then MOFA attestation.
6Typical business fees, bachelor's and master's
Bachelor's in business AUD 30,000 to 38,000 a year; master's and MBA AUD 30,000 to 95,000. Regional universities such as New England and Charles Sturt run about 38% below the research-intensive band. Fees are charged PER CREDIT POINT, so price the specific programme. The CoE is the only figure that counts.
Money
7Bank statement: how much, held how long
AUD 29,710 living costs, plus first-year tuition, plus AUD 2,500 to 3,000 airfare. Three to six months of consistent history. And here the SOURCE matters more than the balance.
8Which money counts as proof of funds
Genuine, traceable funds with an explainable origin. Australia scrutinises where money came from more closely than any other destination on this list. The Genuine Student requirement, which replaced GTE in March 2024, is where most refusals actually happen.
9Initial deposit, and whether paying more helps
Usually one semester or one year of tuition, and it is what releases the CoE. Paying more does not sway the visa officer; it reduces the tuition you must still evidence.

The student applies themselves online through ImmiAccount for subclass 500, which costs AUD 2,500 from 1 July 2026. Biometrics at VFS, about AUD 45. Health examination and OSHC must be done before the grant.
11Visa outcomes for Pakistani applicantsnot confirmed
Australia publishes grant rates but not reliably split by nationality at course level, and refusal rates hit a record high in 2026. We will not quote you a Pakistan percentage we cannot source. What is documented is that the Genuine Student assessment, not the money, decides most cases.

A Genuine Student statement that explains the course, the country and the plan afterwards in the student's own words. Funds with a documented origin, not just a balance. Health exam done early, since results go directly to Home Affairs. And a realistic course choice. A sharp change of field is the commonest reason a well-funded Australian application fails.
