The visa interview, destination by destination.

577 real questions across eight destinations, with what the officer is actually testing and the trap in each topic. Where a country runs no interview at all, we say so rather than sell you practice for something that does not happen.

Choose your destination

Every destination is assessed differently.

The topics barely change, because every immigration service covers the same ground. What changes is how it is assessed: out loud, in writing, from the file alone, or not at all.

What it is

A credibility interview is not an English test.

It is a test of whether you know your own application. The officer already has your file: your course, your university, your fees, your funding, your family. They are checking whether the person on the call is the person the file describes, and whether you can explain your own decisions without being coached.

That is why a strong application still gets refused. The commonest cause is not weak English. It is an answer that contradicts something already on the file: a course title you cannot say in full, a fee you do not recognise, a sponsor whose job you cannot describe, or a reason for choosing a city that sounds like it was written by somebody else.

Somebody who has never sat one prepares you for the wrong thing entirely. Every counsellor here has been through it.

By destination

Who actually interviews you.

Not every destination runs one, and preparing for the wrong process wastes the weeks you needed.

Interview requirements by destination
DestinationInterview?What happensQuestions we hold
United KingdomYes, routinelyA UKVI credibility interview, usually by video, before or after you apply. Refusal under paragraph 9.7 needs no other reason than that the officer did not believe you.221
AustraliaYes, increasinglyThe Genuine Student requirement replaced GTE in 2024. Interviews are used where the file raises a question, and some universities run their own before issuing a CoE.82
IrelandRarelyIreland does not routinely interview. The file has to carry itself, which is why the €6,000 payment and the acceptance letter matter more here.60
New ZealandSometimesUsually where the funds or the study gap need explaining. The visa is assessed before tuition is paid, so the file is read closely.56
NetherlandsNo visa interviewThe university files your permit, so there is no consular interview. Several universities run an admissions interview instead.56
TürkiyeUniversity levelNo consular credibility interview. Some universities interview for competitive programmes.51
CyprusSometimesVaries by institution and by which side of the island the campus is on.41
QatarUniversity levelThe university sponsors your permit and may interview for admission.10

What they test

Ten themes, and what each is really for.

Every question in the bank sits under one of these. Knowing which theme a question belongs to is most of the answer.

  • Personal and family Opening questions, and the easiest place to look rehearsed. The officer is also checking every answer against documents you have already submitted. Un
  • Course and study destination The single biggest refusal ground. The officer is checking that the course follows from what you have already done, that you understand what you have
  • University research and comparison Tests whether YOU chose the university or an agent chose it for you. This is where a file assembled by somebody else falls apart, because the applican

  • Accommodation and facilities Tests whether you have planned the arrival, or only the acceptance. Kent tells its applicants directly that they should be able to state their intenti
  • Local area knowledge A quick test of whether the city is real to you or just a name on a CAS. It is also, quietly, an English test: these questions invite you to speak at
  • Career goals after graduation Intent to return is one of the seven scored categories. The officer is testing genuine intention, and saying you plan to stay permanently is a refusal
  • Work experience details Only if you have worked. Every detail here is checkable and the questions get specific very quickly, because this section exists to find an experience
  • The unexpected questions THE SECTION NOBODY PREPARES FOR, AND THE MOST REVEALING. Officers move entirely off-script to hear you speak naturally. A student reciting prepared an

How we prepare you

From your documents, not from a script.

  • We read your file first. Your CAS or offer, your fees, your funding and your sponsor. The mock questions come from what is actually in it.
  • You answer in your own words. A memorised answer is the single clearest signal to an officer that somebody else built your application.
  • We run the mock as an interview, not a quiz. Follow-up questions, interruptions, and the ones designed to catch a rehearsed answer.
  • We tell you where you contradicted your own file and what to do about it before it is submitted, not after.
  • We do not promise you will pass. Nobody can. The officer decides, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something.
