Ireland had a strong 2027 ranking cycle. Six of its eight universities climbed, Trinity College Dublin held 75th for a fifth consecutive year in the global top 100, and University College Dublin re-entered the top 100 at 100th for the first time in more than fifteen years.
The structural case for Ireland is simple and it has not changed: it is the only English-speaking country in the eurozone, its degrees are recognised across the EU, and Dublin hosts the European headquarters of a large share of the world’s technology and pharmaceutical companies. Graduates qualify for a post-study work permission of twelve to twenty-four months depending on level.

Where students actually live.
Dublin holds Trinity at 75th and University College Dublin at 100th, along with Dublin City University and the European headquarters of much of the technology and pharmaceutical industry. It is also where the accommodation problem lives. Rooms run roughly €824 to €1,686 a month on campus and €1,000 to €1,500 off it, and supply is genuinely short.
Cork, Galway and Limerick cost significantly less and hold well-ranked universities at 220th, 275th and 388th. For a student whose budget only works on optimistic Dublin housing assumptions, these three cities are not a compromise; they are the sensible plan.

The honest part.
Dublin is expensive and its housing market is genuinely difficult. If your budget only works on the assumption of cheap accommodation, look at Cork, Galway or Limerick rather than gambling on finding something in Dublin at the last minute.
